Calvary Lutheran has one last chance to watch a couple of leaders who have helmed both the track and field and cross country programs for a long time. Seniors Kyle Hagemeyer and Maddie Homfeldt will take the track for their final high school meets today and Saturday in the Class 2 and Class 1 state track & field meets, respectively, at Adkins Stadium.
This spring season will be one final ride for two Calvary Lutheran runners who have been in the track and field program for a long time.
Another Calvary Lutheran athletic program has its first state trophy. The Lady Lions posted their first top-four finish Saturday, placing third in the team standings during the Class 1 girls cross country state championships at Gans Creek Course.
Five out of six isn’t too bad. “I think the kids just did great, even Jaxson (got a personal record) and it was all just that fast,” Calvary Lutheran track and field coach Kerri Morris said. “The effort level was great, Kyle (Hagemeyer) PR-ed in the mile, Sydney (Morris) PR-ed in the discus, they just stayed focused. They worked really hard and I’m just so happy that paid off. A lot of teams come here and don’t get any medals. It’s nice to be on the board with some points.”
