Santa Maria police arrest alleged murderer, search for failed kidnapper

Santa Maria police tracked the gunman who allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old man last week to a location in Tulare County and arrested him for murder.
On Dec. 18, witnesses heard multiple gunshots in the 800 block of W. Donovan Road at about 4:20 p.m. Officers arrived at the scene and found Kevin Nunez-Escamilla dead of a gunshot wound, according to the northern Santa Barbara County city’s police department.
Detectives tracked the suspect, 20-year-old Jesus Juarez Gracilazo of Santa Maria, to the town of Lindsey in Tulare County. With the assistance of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, detectives arrested Gracilazo and transported him back to Santa Maria, where he was booked in jail with his bail set at $2 million.
Police identify 20-year-old male killed in shooting on West Donovan Road
A 20-year-old Santa Maria man was identified Tuesday as the victim of a shooting Friday on West Donovan Road.Â
After receiving a report of shots heard in the 800 block of West Donovan Road shortly before 4:30 p.m., officers arriving on scene located Kevin Nunez-Escamilla with a fatal gunshot wound, according to Lt. Jesse Silva.Â
The shooter fled before police arrived, Silva said, and suspects have yet to be identified.Â

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria police made an arrest Wednesday in connection with a recent deadly shooting in the city.
Kevin Nunez-Escamilla, 20, was killed on Friday in the 800 block of West Donovan Road near Railroad.
On Wednesday, Santa Maria police announced investigators made an arrest in the shooting. Detectives tracked the person to the town of Lindsey, which is located in Tulare County. The Tulare Sheriff s Department assisted, and detectives arrested a 20-year-old man from Santa Maria on suspicion of murder.
The man was taken back to Santa Maria and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. He is being held on $2 million bail.
