View Comments Fire crews were still at the scene of a fire Saturday morning that overtook the downtown of a small village in the Upper Peninsula, tearing down storefront of three now-structurally unsound buildings. The fire occurred Friday night, according to posts from the Keweenaw Report, in Calumet on the 100 block of Fifth Street near Portland Street, about 30 miles south of Copper Harbor. ABC 10/CW5 BARAGA COUNTY — Two corrections officers are on the mend after a stabbing incident Wednesday afternoon. As reported by the Keweenaw Report, an inmate at the Baraga Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison, stabbed a guard in the neck from behind. That officer was able to react and help subdue the prisoner even after sustaining the injury. Another officer came to offer assistance and was subsequently hurt.
