LUDHIANA: In a major recovery, Khanna police on Sunday evening arrested four drug peddlers after it recovered more than seven hundred and fifty kilograms poppy husk from their possession. The accused were identified as Navjot Singh Nana of Village Lopon in Samrala, Amarjit Singh of the same village, Sukhwinder Singh Jung of Adarsh Nagar in Samrala and Harmanpreet Singh Gaggi of Village Ber Khurd in Payal area. Addressing media persons at Khanna on Monday, SSP Khanna Gursharandeep Singh Grewal said that the cops achieved a major success under the ongoing special campaign against drug trafficking. He added that police got secret information that the accused are bringing large quantity of poppy husk in a truck from Rajasthan. Police officials said that acting on the tip off, police party set up a check post in the area of Sadar Khanna and on seeing the truck coming asked the driver to stop the vehicle. They added that during checking they found that the drug peddlers had hidden fifty bags of consignment under the gypsum powder.
