A rural retreat

Going out to an open green space somehow can change my perspective and mood. When I hear birds chirping and feel the gentle wind, it relaxes me and helps reduce stress after days working in front of a computer screen.

More than 200,000 prisoners have been granted a royal pardon on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 69th birthday on Wednesday, including 35,000 inmates who will be released on parole.
These prisoners will either be paroled or given a reduction in their sentences under the 2021 Royal Pardon Royal Decree, within 120 days after the decree takes effect on Wednesday, said Aryut Sinthopphan, director-general of the Department of Corrections, on Tuesday.
The 35,000 inmates who will be paroled are now in 143 prisons across the country and they are eligible to be released under the new royal decree, Mr Aryut said.

Khok: Dressed up chicken

SunStar
May 21, 2021
It’s easy to cook chicken. I still have to know of someone who fails at this. Even a weekend cook like me can prepare chicken in many ways and here’s how.
SAVORY. Savory is a flavor defined as “having a pleasant taste or smell.” The taste can be spicy or salty or both.
When I make savory chicken, I mix salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and Spanish paprika on cut up chicken before frying or grilling.
There are times I sprinkle lemon juice on the chicken to brighten up its taste.
Alternately, I may add the powdered flavorings on flour and cornstarch and use it to coat the chicken.

Khok: 'Bakuna' jokes - SUNSTAR

SunStar
March 12, 2021
First off, getting a bakuna or vaccine is no joking matter. It can spell the difference between possibly getting infected with Covid-19 or its mutations without the bakuna, and getting protected with the bakuna or—as often reported in the news, should you catch the bug—the effect will not be severe.
Second, and last, it doesn’t mean we can’t lighten the fear some people have in getting the jab done.
My tiny store hopes a dose of laughter will help make the needle seem less nasty. Here are play of words that have a bakuna theme, in the “use in a sentence” style (C for Cebuano, T for Tagalog, and E for English):

The newly-appointed director-general of the Department of Corrections, Ayuth Sintoppant, is a classic example of what Thais call a luk mor -- a staff member who has worked at the same place for a very long time, and as such, is deeply familiar with the depth and breadth of his organisation and its work.
Having worked in the Department of Corrections for several decades, Mr Ayuth said he has witnessed the transformation of Thailand's prison system.
"When I started my career, there were no women's prisons, so women convicts had to be held at the prison which is now Romaneenart Park," said Mr Ayuth, as he recalled the first place where he worked after he graduated from university.
