MUSKEGON, MI – A comparison of the COVID-19 vaccine “passports” to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany and a tearful claim they would discriminate against mothers just trying to buy diapers led an angry Muskegon County commissioner to denounce disrespect toward people who have truly faced prejudice.
The public comments came during a Muskegon County Board of Commissioners human services committee on Tuesday, May 4. The board later voted along party lines to approve a non-binding resolution denouncing the idea of such passports that will be sent to the governor and state lawmakers. ....

MUSKEGON, MI – An estimated $15 million parking ramp with residential and retail space is in early planning stages for a lot near downtown Muskegon’s arena and convention center.
The 500-space ramp, as well as the commercial uses, would raise funds to support the urban bus system, according to officials from the county and city of Muskegon. ....

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Assisting residential development, including at the Fruitport Golf Club, is the driving force behind a new tax-capture district aimed at growing one of Muskegon County’s busiest areas.
A tax capture district that includes the Lakes Mall has been approved for an area of Fruitport Township near a planned casino.
A new downtown development authority will take increases in property tax revenues in the district and put them toward $11 million in planned projects. The tax capture is for 20 years. ....
