Several Area City Council Meetings Set for Tonight

Several City Councils will have reorganization and regularly scheduled this evening. Mount Carmel, Flora, and Albion all have meetings this evening. Mount Carmel's meeting is at 4 this afternoon. No agenda information is available at this time. Flora's meeting is at 4:30 this afternoon. In Flora, they will be splitting their meeting into 2 sessions as there is old business with the current council. The board will approve the consent agenda, look at an ordinance to amend the water and sewer rate, and look to approve the Clay County Car Cruisers Car Club to use Charley Brown Park on July 22nd for their 19th annual Car and Truck Show. After seating and swearing in the new council, the city will look to approve the request from the Clay County Farm Bureau to use Charley Brown Park on September 25th for Farm Safety Day as well as make ratifications for Commissioner Departments and City Officers. The appointments include Linda Spicer as the person in charge of accounts and finance, Jeremy Henderson as the person in charge of public health and safety, Phil Wiley as the person in charge of public property, and Jim Fehrenbacher as the person in charge of Streets and Public Improvements. For officers, the city will look to appoint Bob Coble as city attorney, Mike Stanford as the City Administrator and Economic Development Director, Becky Burgess as City Clerk, Abbie Orel as City Treasurer, Tyla Knapp as Deputy City Clerk, Kaci O'Dell as Deputy City Treasurer, Guye Durre as Police Chief, and Jeremy Ruger as Assistant Police Chief, Mary Beth Welch Collins as City Court Hearing Officer, and Maralee Johnson, Robbin Dickey, and Joe McCoy to the Flora Public Library Board. Under new business, the city will look at awarding a bit for the downtown parking lot to Luttrell Backhoe Incorporated and look at a lease between the city and Frank and Kim Lusk for Tropical Treats. In Albion, the city council will meet at 7 this evening. Under old business, the council will make a motion or motions regarding the Wilson Avenue neighborhood. The council will also look at vacating the northern two feet of an alley behind the old IGA building. The council will work on items involving the Speir and Pinch Waterlines, take a look at the Elm Street project bids, and look to purchase property at 230 North Second Street. Following the old business, the council will adjourn and swear in new members of the council and administer the oath of office. Under new business, the city will look at the renewal of employee health insurance as well as look into the cleaning of the water tank on Cherry Street. The city will also hold an executive session concerning the sale of real estate.
