A solemn crowd gathered inside Orchard Avenue Baptist Church Thursday night to face the reality of homelessness and the lives it claimed this year. While the church’s interior still bore the tree displays of the holiday season, the atmosphere was undoubtedly tinged with mourning. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., city council members, chief of police and relatives of the deceased joined others to pay their respects to the 11 unhoused persons who died on the streets this year.
