ALTON The Central Illinois Cougars were welcomed Friday to the 1st MidAmercia Soccer Complex at Gordon Moore Park by Alton Mayor Brant Walker and Alton Parks and Recreation Director Michael Haynes.
“I couldn’t be happier,” Walker said. “Having the Cougars play in Alton is another affordable amenity that is family friendly and will also bring more people to our region.”
Kinney Myles, owner and head coach for the Carlinville-based team, started it in 1999, playing home games in Carlinville and Springfield areas. The Cougars are part of the Hidden Gems Football League and play in the Ruby Division, winning three league championships and played in three other championship games.
