10th round of Govt-farmer talks begins seeking a solution IANS New Delhi: The 10th round of dialogue between the government and farmers’ representatives began Wednesday here in the national capital amid expectations of a solution to end the deadlock as the protest by the farmers on the Delhi borders continued for the 56th day. However, there is no signal from both sides so far indicating any fruitful decision to end the protest as farmers are still sticking to their demands on withdrawal of three contentious farm laws and guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), and the government is adamant not to repeal the agriculture acts enacted in September during Monsoon Session of Parliament last year. ....

A detailed order is expected later today. During the hearing, the chief justice said the court will pass an interim order saying the no farmers land can be sold for contract farming till the matter is resolved. Before pronouncing the order, the bench commenced the hearing and urged the farmers unions to cooperate and go before the committee to be appointed by it to resolve the dispute. “We are concerned about only the validity of the laws and also about protecting the life and property of citizens affected by protests,” said Justice Bobde. “We are trying to solve the problem in accordance with the powers we have.” ....

The government began the talks signalling an outcome of positive results from the meeting while the farmers threatened to intensify the stir if their demand to repeal three contentious farm laws is not fulfilled. So far there is no official assurance from both sides if they will choose another way to end the impasse and they are still stiking to their points. ....
