BANGKOK -- Myanmar's main pro-democracy resistance group said Thursday its armed wing launched drone attacks on the airport and a military headquarters in the capital, Naypyitaw, but the country's ruling military said it destroyed or seized more than a dozen drones used in the attacks.
The daring kamikaze drone attack did not cause much damage, but its political significance cannot be underestimated.

The National Unity Government's Defense Ministry stated that People's Defense Force units used drones to attack the targets simultaneously, with reports of casualties. The military, however, said it shot down seven drones with no casualties. The country has been in turmoil since the military seized power in 2021, leading to nationwide protests and armed resistance.
