The trash she would see on her running route inspired Jenness, who works for Maine Island Trail Association, to spearhead a town-wide roadside cleanup this spring. She spread the word via Facebook and in selectmen’s Zoom meetings. Residents signed up for stretches of road and, whenever worked for them, picked up the recycleables and trash. ....
Charles Culbertson Alna’s two candidates on the March 27 ballot for second selectman and the two seeking to be third selectman answered Wiscasset Newspaper’s uniform questions on why they are running; what traits, experience, etc. do they have that will aid their service as selectman; what their top priorities would be if elected, and why; and anything else they would like to get across to voters. The newspaper told candidates their complete response could total up to 500 words. I considered several other ways of serving in Alna before this,including the school board, planning board, and part-time town clerk. Town Clerk Sheila McCarty said Kyle Levasseur and Linda Kristan will be on the ballot for the second selectman’s seat Doug Baston now holds; and Christopher Cooper and Charles Culbertson are running for third selectman, the seat Greg Shute now holds. Road Commissioner Jeff Verney will be unopposed on the ballot for another one-year term; and recent Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit 12 board appointee Kristina Verney is running unopposed for that seat, McCarty said. ....

And in a phone interview Dec. 31, Second Selectman Doug Baston said he was undecided. Nominatons for their seats and other town seats opened Dec. 30. Town Clerk Sheila McCarty’s email announced the second and third selectmen’s seats are each two years. The town will also elect a road commissioner for one year and a Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit representative for three years. Road Commissioner Jeff Verney said he will run.
