CHICAGO — Indians manager Terry Francona says people who sent racist, anti-Asian hate messages to infielder Yu Chang after Cleveland’s loss Monday to Chicago were just looking for an excuse to be “stupid and ignorant.”
Francona was reacting to news that Chang, whose throwing error allowed White Sox pinch runner Nick Madrigal to score the winning run in the ninth inning, fielded several vile messages on social media in the hours after the game.
