Few, few are daring to predict what happens after that. welcome, i m neil cavuto. looting and skirming with police in baltimore today. but nothing like we saw last night. to rick leventhal at one of those looted businesses where they re trying to pick up the pieces. hey, rick. certainly calmer today, neil than yesterday and last night. we in wunt of the one of the 15 buildings that was torched. authorities believe in an arson attack. this was going to be a senior center. it was being built by the southern baptist church at a cost of $16 million to provide services to the community including job training and mortgage and financial assistance along with 60 units of affordable housing. somebody came here and set it afire and ran off. we were here when this was fully engulfed with flames. the firefighters coming under attack last night. at one location they had their hose cut. at other locations along fulton avenue they were taking cinder ....
Blocks being thrown as them by protesters. the police began accompanying the firefighters to the locations. in one spot we were with a corner store in flames there was a heavily armed swat team with the firefighters to allow them to put out the fire. there were at least 20 officers hurt overnight. some with broken bones. there were 235 arrests overnight and a dozen more this morning, neil. things have seemed to calm down with the addition of 500 national guard troop and hundreds of state and local police from around the region including new jersey state police and metro d.c. police officers. as you mentioned, a very strange situation happening at the orioles park at camden yards with two games being canceled yesterday and today and tomorrow s game being played with no fans. it s closed to the public. imagine the millions of dollars being lost by that game not being open to the public. this weekend series with the rays being moved down to tampa bay. that is weird. thank you. ....
Rick leventhal is live with what we could be seeing. rick? no he is not there yet. just to bring you up to speed, all had been quiet. some s.w.a.t. teams, 500 national guards and we re told maybe an additional 100 guards could come in tonight. the governor has already indicated a desire to call up to 5,000 of them. we don t know if that s going to be necessary here. there s been a great deal of criticism early on that police thought that there was not a strong enough presence. there really is no way to control who honors or who doesn t honor a curfew here. we are going to be hearing as well from the police how they plan to deal with this. we should say that most business offices in and around the greater baltimore area shut down ....
Those troopers have brought interesting technology with them. some geospacial gridding where they can map out their own people and the location of the agitators. kudos to jersey state police for helping out like that. thank you very much. we re going to go to leland in baltimore to get a sense of what they are planning. remember this curfew is in effect if you re 14 or younger, you have to get out of there by 9. anyone else by 10:00. that will last into early next week. how many will honor that? what happens if they do not? we shall see. more after this. ....
Police going over the line they have the hardest job on the country. what do you tell your son? be respectful to people. if you re disrespectful, there are going to be consequences. the good thing, for the most part he s a tremendous kid. you know can be a knucklehead from time to time. did you tell him a lot of people don t know your story. you grew up in harlem on the wrong side of the tracks. did you ever tell him because your skin color you might be targeted. it doesn t mean you re going to be shot at. what did you do? i never told him that. i will admit that where he lives, he has never seen a fight in school. whereas i ve when i went to school in harlem there were like, seven fiethsghts a day. you started them. or i was running from him. seven a day. he grew up in a non-violent environment. when someone like mark cuban ....
