STERLING HEIGHTS The city of Sterling Heights is inviting the public to enjoy a variety of tastes and sounds on its upcoming Summer Thursdays, thanks to the return of its farmers market, beer patio and concert stage.
The Dodge Park Farmers Market will run 3-8 p.m. Thursdays between June 3 and Sept. 30 this year in Sterling Heights. The farmers market runs at Dodge Park’s large pavilion, near Dodge Park Road and Utica Road.
Organizers are promising a host of vendors who will sell fruits, vegetables and other foods. In past years, the market has sold food as well as crafts and other items. However, last year, the city opened the market in July, later than normal, following coronavirus shutdowns. And even then, the market limited vendors to ones who sold “essential food.” ....

STERLING HEIGHTS Sterling Heights is optimistic that some newly scheduled events can give people a break from being cooped up in their homes, should the threat of COVID-19 recede from the community.
On April 6, Sterling Heights city officials gathered at the Sterling Heights Community Center and rolled out a list of “Break-Free Blast” public events starting in late spring and continuing through the rest of the year.
Sterling Heights Mayor Michael Taylor lamented how the Community Center had to close so soon after its Feb. 29, 2020, grand opening and how the last major event the city had prior to shutdowns was the Cultural Exchange. Even the 2020 Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair was canceled. ....

STERLING HEIGHTS Like a workhorse put out to pasture, the husk of what used to be a construction vehicle stands along a narrow path in the Clinton River Trail System, just north of Dodge Park’s bridge over the Clinton River.
Its appearance is dilapidated and riddled with rust and graffiti. Yet its presence remains a curiosity for anyone willing to venture into the woods and perhaps risk muddy shoes to get there. ....
