Phthalate alternative might harm brain development, health: Study
Concerns about the potential health effects of phthalates, a component of many plastics and also known as a plasticizer, have prompted a search for safer substitutes. In a new study performed in cell cultures, researchers found that the chemical acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) may not be the best alternative since it appears to interfere with the growth and maintenance of neurons.
