National Parks are experiencing extreme overcrowding, and larger crowds provide an inevitably higher chance to witness erratic behavior—not from the wildlife, but courtesy of our inherently flawed species.
Just ask the park rangers, who, in addition to dealing with a surge of gross inexperience from new campers ignoring elementary cleanup protocols, had the recent displeasure of confronting one Indiana man who believed Yellowstone National Park to be the perfect place to unleash a drunken tirade.
Kyle F. Campbell, 31, was handed a 60-day prison sentence, five-year ban from the park, and a $1,550 fine after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct stemming from a June 21 visit to the park’s Grant Marina on Yellowstone Lake, where he and a group were scheduled for a guided kayak trip, according to the National ....

Indiana Man Sentenced for Disorderly Conduct in Yellowstone National Park


YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK Acting United States Attorney Bob Murray announced today that Kyle F. Campbell, age 31 of Fairmont, Indiana, pleaded guilty to charges stemming from an incident that occurred on June 21, 2021, in Yellowstone National Park (YNP).
Campbell appeared for arraignment and sentencing before United States Magistrate Judge Mark L. Carman in Mammoth, Wyoming, on June 23, 2021.
On June 21, 2021, Campbell was with a group of individuals who had been scheduled for a guided kayak trip at the Grant Marina in YNP. The guide refused to take the group as he thought they were too intoxicated. Campbell and his group became upset and created a disturbance that led the kayak guide to call security officers and park law enforcement rangers. ....

GREAT FALLS — Kyle F. Campbell of Indiana was sentenced on June 23rd for disorderly conduct and threatening security officers in Yellowstone National Park.
Campbell, 31 years old, was sentenced to 60 days in prison, five years probation, and a five-year ban from Yellowstone National Park, park officials said in a news release Wednesday. He was also ordered to pay $1,600 in fines and fees.
Park officials said Campbell was part of a four-person group scheduled for a guided kayak trip at Grant Marina in the park on June 21st. The guide refused to take the group, saying they were too intoxicated. ....

Man Banned From Yellowstone For Drunkenly Attacking Park Rangers
An Indiana man will not be allowed to enter Yellowstone National Park for the next five years after pleading guilty to charges that alleged he drunkenly attacked park rangers.
In addition, 31-year-old Kyle F. Campbell was sentenced in federal court to serve 60 days behind bars, and five years of unsupervised probation.
Campbell was also ordered to pay $1,550 in fines.

“We understand that people are eager to get out this summer and enjoy our national parks; however, this type of behavior is unacceptable. Thanks to the quick actions taken by park rangers and the park vendor’s security officers, no one was seriously harmed,” Acting United States Attorney Bob Murray said in a written statement. “Stay sober, because unruly and intoxicated behavior will only earn you a spot with the jailbirds rather than enjoying the beauty and adventure of Yellowstone.” ....
