Meet Columbus Dispatch education reporter Alissa Widman Neese
Why I became a journalist I honestly wasn't sure what career I wanted to pursue as a graduating high school senior, but I knew I wanted to write. I decided to give journalism a try and did a job-shadowing experience at my hometown newspaper, the Sandusky Register. They started giving me assignments after just a couple days and I knew I made the right choice. I must have done OK, because the Register ended up hiring me for my first job after I graduated from Bowling Green State University. I spent a few years there before coming to Columbus in 2016.
