The labour ministry of India has started discussions with public sector undertakings (PSUs) and government departments, urging them to contribute towards the 'Donate a pension' programme for unorganised workers. The campaign was launched in March but has failed to receive a great response, with only 336 contributions made. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday issued a notice to the Centre, States and Union Territories over the reported high death rate of workers in accidents in the registered factories and the measures taken for ensuring the protection of their human rights.
