How to help Black women breastfeed? JCSU grant aims to start with lactation consultant diversity
Johnson C. Smith University was recently awarded nearly $1 million from Mecklenburg County to expand the school’s Black Birthing Professions program. The program focuses on improving the health of mothers and babies while also expanding access to professional training for people of color. That includes JCSU’s Lactation Consultant Training Program which aims to recruit more women of color into the field.
