"Chronostratigraphy of sediment cores from Lake Selina, southeastern Au" by Agathe Lisé-Pronovost, Michael Shawn Fletcher et al. - Vimarsana News

"Chronostratigraphy of sediment cores from Lake Selina, southeastern Au" by Agathe Lisé-Pronovost, Michael Shawn Fletcher et al.

This Data in Brief paper comprises dataset obtained for sediment cores collected from Lake Selina, located in the West Coast Range of Tasmania, Australia. Datasets include radiocarbon and optically stimulated luminescence age estimates, elemental composition, beryllium isotopes, magnetic properties and the paleomagnetic record measured on the cores assigned as TAS1402 (Location: Tasmania, Year: 2014, Site number: 02). The multi-proxy dataset was used to develop a chronostratigraphy for the 5.5 m and 270,000 year old record. See Lisé-Pronovost et al. (2021) (10.1016/j.quageo.2021.101152) for i...

"Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy as a tracer of organic matter " by Charles Maxson, John Tibby et al. - Vimarsana News

"Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy as a tracer of organic matter " by Charles Maxson, John Tibby et al.

The source of sedimentary organic matter in lakes can help to elucidate climate and catchment variation and processes that reflect lake development. Common techniques for tracing sediment organic matter sources, such as the stable isotopes and elemental concentrations of C and N, can be too imprecise to identify the specific provenance of organic matter. By contrast, organic geochemical techniques such as gas or liquid chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance provide detailed organic molecular characterisation but are both expensive and time consuming. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) sp...
