ISRO announced on Sunday that it has successfully reduced the orbit of the Chandrayaan-3 mission's Lander Module (LM), bringing it closer to the moon. The LM, comprising the lander 'Vikram' and rover 'Pragyan,' is set to touch down on the lunar surface on August 23. The LM will undergo internal checks before commencing the powered descent. Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.

Chandrayaan-3 landing date and time: The ISRO said that the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 is a monumental moment that not only fuels curiosity but also sparks a passion for exploration within the minds of our youth. 

Russia's space agency Roscosmos on Saturday attempted a maneuver to transfer the spacecraft to the pre-landing orbit but during the operation, an "emergency situation" occurred on board the automatic station. 

India's space agency, ISRO, successfully launched Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, 2023. The satellite separated from the rocket and entered Earth's orbit 16 minutes after the lift-off. The soft landing is scheduled for August 23, 2023 and will make India the fourth country ever to accomplish this feat after the US, Russia and China.
