A traffic study revealed that reducing 24th Street to 3 lanes, plus new turn lane will help with flow. The project is expected to take 8 weeks.
Lane reductions will begin at 7 a.m. Monday for street repairs at the intersection of College and Towanda avenues in Normal, the town said Friday.
The lane reduction is expected to be completed by Friday afternoon.
On Monday, crews will start new pavement marking on Ashworth Road from 1st Street to 19th Street, which will reduce the four-lane street to a three-lane street. The road will have two slightly wider lanes and a continuous left-turning lane in the center.
