After building luxury custom homes for over 20 years, Larry Larsen knew what he wanted to do when he renovated his Wash Park home on the 600 block of South Downing Street.

The company used to be known just as a Wash Park builder but now builds in upscale neighborhoods all over.
“Knowing they can’t break ground for more than a year is untenable for many people,” one homebuilder said. “Then you have the build time, so it could be three years before you can walk in the door.”
A permit backlog in Denver is delaying construction projects and has home builders and homebuyers nervous.
