WEST PALM BEACH The transformation of West Palm Beach s once sleepy North End is taking another step forward this week and upward as construction starts on two waterfront apartment towers. Groundbreaking is scheduled for Wednesday morning for the first two Arquitectonica-designed buildings of the Icon Marina Village, 24-story towers to rise beside the Rybovich megayacht marina at 4444 N. Flagler Drive. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2024, with the first units to open for rental that October. The seawall already is under construction. The two towers, by developer Related Group of Miami, are the first of six approved for the site. The other four, planned by Rybovich, have been approved for 650 more apartments. The construction schedule for those has not been disclosed. ....
Real estate is the shiny star of Palm Beach County s economy these days, but biotechnology is starting to percolate, too. After months of delays, Beacon Pharmaceutical Jupiter finally is moving forward with a plan to develop a $150 million biotech incubator and manufacturing center in the town. The facility would be built on nine acres of town-owned land, just west of Florida s Turnpike on Indiantown Road. Meanwhile, Alphazyme a company that makes custom, molecular biology enzymes recently inked a deal to lease 22,000 square feet of research space at the Institute for Healthy Living in Jupiter. That s according to Ray Graziotto, who owns the rights to develop a life sciences incubator in the space. The incubator is part of the Institute, a never-opened senior living and rehab center on the east side of Central Boulevard just north of Donald Ross Road and across from Scripps Florida. ....
