Certain 2021 Jeep Cherokee SUVs may have been assembled with a transmission oil cooler (TOC) hose that has an incorrectly cured rubber. The faulty parts could rupture, allowing the transmission fluid to leak, which could come in contact with an ignition source, possibly leading to a vehicle fire. As a result, the automaker is now conducting a recall for these vehicles in North America. A total of 18,800 units, with a 10 percent estimated defect rate, powered by the 2.0-, 2.4- and 3.2-liter engines, will have to be taken back to the dealers for inspection. These will be checked by authorized technicians, who will replace the affected hoses with new ones that were produced with correctly cured rubber. All work will be carried out free of charge, and owners should expect to hear from FCA before June 23, when the recall is scheduled to commence.
