Festschrift for Lian Nio (Polly), a mother of all mothers to the world, Lian Nio (Polly) Spangenberg-Lauw is just a number, another statistic, but to us, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her grand grandchildren, she was the world born as a 2nd generation Chinese immigrant on July 6, 1931, in Jakarta when the land was still under merciless Dutch colonial rule, Lian Nio inadvertently met President Sukarno as a customer in her mother's barbershop prior to witnessing Indonesia's independence in 1945 and marrying Leonard Spangenberg who was of German-Indonesian descent in 1948...
