Vanuatu Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Laurent Parente, recently chaired the 70th session of the IMO Technical Cooperation Committee (TCC). IMO Member States of this specialised United Nations Agency had elected him by secret ballot during the 69th session, a procedure rarely used by the United Nations unless there is more than one candidate which was the case.
