KENYA NAVY JUNIOR OFFICERS SEA TRAINING COMES TO AN END The Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Lawrence Gituma, presided over the reception of Exercise Jitegemee XXII sea training crew at the Kenya Navy Fleet at Mkunguni Jetty on 04 May 2021. The crew, made up of Junior Officers Under Training (JOUTS) and sailors, have successfully completed the one-month sea training whose mission was to adequately equip the trainees with practical sea experience, knowledge and skills to enable them handle ships’ operations competently and conduct maritime operations effectively. It also presented opportunities of flag showing and conducting diplomatic visits to the visited ports.

SUCCESS OF THE KENYA NAVY AND US SPECIAL FORCES JOINT COMBINED TRAINING The Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Lawrence Gituma, presided over the closing ceremony of the Joint Combined Exercise Training (JCET) Program on 30 April 2021 at the Kenya Navy Fleet, Mombasa. The JCET program is an exchange training program between the United States Army and Kenya Navy through the Kenya United States Liaison Office (KUSLO). The program involved officers and service members drawn from the United States Army Special Forces Operational Detachment and the Kenya Navy Special Operations Squadron (SOS). The objective of the training was geared towards enhancing the capability of the Kenya Navy Special Operations personnel in maritime combat and security operations ensuring competent naval special warfare personnel are in place for effective deployment.

KENYA NAVY FLAGS OFF JUNIOR OFFICERS TRAINING CRUISE – Ministry of Defence – Kenya

Jitegemee XXII at the Kenya Navy Dockyard earlier this week. Exercise Jitegemee is an annual Kenya Navy sea training cruise aimed at training young officers and sailors locally, equipping them with the practical knowledge and skills necessary to undertake tasks in fulfilment of the Kenya Navy mandate. The objectives of the exercise include acquisition of high standard of practical sea training for Junior Officers Under Training (JOUTS), crew training, testing the ship equipment and diplomatic visits. The training further reinforces the theoretical training the officers have received at the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC) setting the foundation of having competent and skilled divisional ships’ officers able to conduct maritime operations effectively.
