Widespread community angst threatens to mar the search process for Fresno Unified's next superintendent. Some people blame the board's actions.
Fresno Unified board member Claudia Cazares announced on Facebook she was switching position and now supports a nationwide search for superintendent, giving the position a 4-3 majority.
“The skill that I see maybe that you’re talking about in this arena is to have someone who is skilled at having challenging and hard conversations regardless of the issue,” said Sally Frazier, one of the lead associates in charge of the search. “It might be equity one day, it might be something else another day, but someone who can bring people together with differing points of view and still be able to have a cohesive group (and keep) the focus on the children.”
Whether by accident or design, the Escondido Union High School District board is clearly limiting community input and rushing this critical personnel decision.
The Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Education, at a special meeting Monday, approved a contract with Leadership Associates to assist the district’s search for a new superintendent.
