Nigerian Police Should Pay N50million Compensation For Illegal Detention Of 16-Year-Old Schoolboy In Enugu – Rights Group

A human rights group, the Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement (CRRAN) has petitioned the Police Service Commission (PSC) over the illegal detention of a 16-year-old school boy, by Enugu command of the Nigeria Police Force. The organization demanded a payment of N50 million as compensation for the violation of the child's rights and damages the teenager suffered for the three months incarcerated without trial.

Nigerian Police Detain 16-Year-Old Schoolboy For Three Months In Enugu, Demand N1.2million As 'Settlement'

An Enugu State-based human rights organisation, the Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network (CRRAN), has petitioned Governor Peter Mbah over the unlawful detention of a 16-year-old secondary school student at the state police headquarters since October 2023, till date. The group appealed to the governor for an urgent intervention in a petition addressed to him dated January 11, 2024, and copied to the State Commissioner of police, CP  Kanayo Uzoegbu, Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kingsley Udeh.
