New principal for Tampa Heights Elementary   Melanie Hill Anderson will be the new principal of Tampa Heights Elementary, effective July 26. Hill Anderson joined the school district in 1999. Previously, she served as principal of Potter and Bing elementary schools., The rebuilt Tampa Heights Elementary School combines historic design featuress with modern architecture. Girls On The Run planning summer camps in Manhattan (Courtesy GOTR of the Flint Hills) Girls On The Run of the Flint Hills is opening a summer camp. The camp, which debuted in 2019, will provide an experience geared towards fitness and mental health for girls grades 3-5. Both sessions will be in Manhattan. Session one will take place at Lee Elementary on June 21-25 from 8 a.m. to noon, while session two will take place at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary on July 12-16 also from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s the same place he scurried through the halls as a young boy. These days he gets around a little slower, with a cane by his side, but the mission toward young students remains unchanged. “Our belief is that this place is secure. We feed them, we take care of them and often provide socks and underwear. Once we do that, the kids find that it’s a safe place to be and they want to learn,” he said.
