Leon Beck trained with Marine Corps howitzer battery in early 1960s
Growing up on a farm south of Jefferson City, Leon Beck acquired an early immersion in leadership when elected president of the Stringtown-Corinth 4-H Club in 1957, followed by his experience as president of the Cole County 4-H Junior Leaders Council. The skills he developed in this early period would be further polished when he later embarked upon a military adventure.
