Observations with JWST’s MIRI detect water vapor, sulfur dioxide, and sand clouds in the atmosphere of WASP-107b. A team of European astronomers, co-led by MPIA researchers, used recent observations made with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to study the atmosphere of the nearby exoplanet WA
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) recently looked at WASP-107b, a puffy, strange, hot planet about 200 light-years from Earth.
This giant, "fluffy" exoplanet has clouds filled with sand that rains down like water does on Earth, scientists have discovered.
One of the least dense exoplanets known was recently investigated using James Webb, and the planet's weather seems is as strange as its puffiness.
Clouds of silicate sand exist high in exoplanet WASP-107b's atmosphere, new James Webb Space Telescope observations reveal.
