A demonstrator at a protest in the Greek city of Thessaloniki was accidentally set on fire after far-left anarchists hit him in the leg with a Molotov cocktail.
The incident took place earlier this week at a protest against allowing police to operate on university campuses, in which around 7,000 people participated in a march against the new law.
The rally started peacefully but developed into riots as a group of around 100 protestors violently clashed with police, throwing various objects at officers including Molotov cocktail petrol bombs.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek convicted terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas has ended a 66-day hunger strike that left him dangerously ill.
Koufodinas, 63, who is serving 11 consecutive life sentences plus 25 years for murders he committed as the main hitman of far-left armed group November 17, had begun the hunger strike demanding to be transferred to a prison of his choice.
In a statement released through his lawyer, Ioanna Kourtovik, Koufodinas thanked the “progressive people” who showed solidarity in a “fight against an inhumane power system.”
Several protest marches have taken place to support Koufodinas’ demands and sympathisers have staged a series of arson and vandalism attacks in recent days.

The British government is appointing an independent adviser on political violence and disruption to probe the infiltration of groups like Black Lives Matter and Extinction Rebellion by far-left extremists.
The investigation has been entrusted to the Lord Walney, John Woodcock, a former Labour MP who now sits in the House of Lords as an unaffiliated peer.
“We must be vigilant against a similar blind spot in Britain to the prospect of progressive extremism – that is, unacceptable disruption or even violence carried out in the name of progressive causes to which the political establishment and large majority of the population have great sympathy, like climate change and racial injustice,” said the parliamentarian, who will also be examining far-right activity, in comments to the

17 Jan 2021
BERLIN (AP) — German authorities say forestry workers have unearthed a barrel containing material that may be related to the far-left Red Army Faction group.
The plastic barrel was found Friday during tree-pruning work in the Seevetal area, near Hamburg, the state criminal police office in Lower Saxony said.
Officials found documents from the 1980s and containers with unknown liquids in the barrel, but no weapons, the office said in a statement Saturday. Experts determined that the barrel could be moved safely, and it was taken away for further investigation.
