Tony Leone was remembered as a dedicated public servant and champion of preservation of historic homes around Springfield by those who knew him and worked with him. The former clerk of the Illinois House of Representatives who ran the Pasfield House bed-and-breakfast, in the shadow of the state Capitol, died Wednesday in Springfield. He was 70. A cause of death hasn't been confirmed. Leone served as clerk for George Ryan's only term as speaker of the House from 1981 to 1983. Ryan went on to serve one term as governor.
