M&K Forestry & Land Management is planning to start a new business and needs assistance with the down payment for a bank loan. The total loan package is $273,000 with loans from Bank Midwest and the EDA. City Manager Chris Dalton said the $50,000 would help close a loan for equipment purchase. cschuldt@nujournal.com NEW ULM — The New Ulm City Council reviewed recommendations for the next neighborhood park, and accepted the Park and Recreation Commission’s scoring matrix and rankings for it. The Park and Recreation Commission has studied this topic since 2016 during multiple regular meetings, and most recently three work sessions and a special meeting. A matrix was developed by the commission to rank potential park sites for development. The loan program is called “The Get It Ready” program and provides loans with less-than-market rates to homeowners who have significant, necessary and expensive rehabilitation needs on their homes which may impact the home’s livability and attractiveness when selling. Commissioner Dean Simonsen cast the dissenting vote regarding about 100 acres of land owned by Greg Mikkelson. Approval came on Commissioner Dave Borchert’s motion, seconded by Commissioner Scott Windschitl.
