'Special's Ryan O'Connell Had the Most Iconic Coming Out to Friends All I got was an awkward car ride home! With the second and final season of Special on the way from Netflix, Ryan O'Connell is back out on the press circuit. The show's star and creator recently appeared in Interview magazine, debuting a series of Polaroids he shot while growing up. And while Special doesn't really deal with coming out as LGBTQ+ per se — in actuality, the coming out has to do with disability — the actor did tell the story of how he came out at age 17. Oh, and it was pretty iconic.
