Lawmakers voice support for downtown stadium, promise funds to aid Civic Theatre

SPOKANE, Wash. Spokane representatives penned a letter to the Spokane Public Schools board and Civic Theatre promising to secure state funding to help soundproof the 50-year-old theater, if the downtown stadium proposal is approved.
The school board will vote on the stadium Wednesday evening.
Of the controversies with the proposed location, one of the larger ones was the Spokane Civic Theatre, which would be forced to soundproof its facilities if big sports events were going on at the downtown stadium.
With respect to this, Spokane Public Schools previously negotiated with the Downtown Spokane Partnership to give the Civic priority parking and noise mitigation in the form of soundproofing. ....
