The San Diego Police Department s response times for its most urgent calls for service were slower in 2020 compared to the two years prior, department data shows.
SDPD defines Priority 1 calls as, Dispatch Immediately. Priority One calls involve serious crimes in progress or a threat to life. Examples include: missing children, child abuse, domestic violence, disturbances involving weapons/violence and bomb threats.
The department s average response time to Priority 1 calls in 2020 was 28 minutes. In 2019 it was 23 minutes and in 2018 it was 21 minutes, according to SDPD documents.
The response time is measured from when a dispatcher initially receives the call to when an officer arrives on the scene.
