A new fund will provide seed grants to Northwestern University faculty to speed up the commercialization of innovative and high-potential research in the life sciences. The Pat & Shirley Ryan Family Research Acceleration Fund will advance translational research discoveries in both engineering and medicine with the potential to have a meaningful and immediate impact on society.

Northwestern announces new global primary care center to foster health care equity in the developing world

A gift from the Patrick G. ’59, ’09 H (’97, ’00 P) and Shirley W. Ryan ’61, ’19 H (’97, ’00 P) Family will endow the Ryan Family Center for Global Primary Care within Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health, whose mission is to improve health for a better world. 

Ryan Family gift for applied economics honors Northwestern President Emeritus Morton Schapiro

A gift from the Patrick G. ’59, ’09 H and Shirley W. Ryan ’61, ’19 H (’97, ’00 P) Family will establish the Morton Schapiro Center for Applied Economics at Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. The gift honors Morton Schapiro, one of the nation’s leading higher education economists, who became Northwestern’s president emeritus in September after 13 years leading the University.
