VW independent/submitted information CONVOY The Crestview Local Board of Education will permit open enrollment of students from any Ohio district through “open enrollment” for the 2021‐2022 school year. Applications will be accepted beginning April 1, on a first‐come, first‐served basis, according to the time and date the application is received by the superintendent of Crestview Local Schools. Requests will be acted upon no later than July 1. Applications will be considered in the order received and class size may be limited. All applications (except for kindergarten students) must be completed and returned no later than May 31. Applications are available by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 419.749.9100, extension 4, or on the school website at www.crestviewknights.com under “Parent Resources”. ....
VW independent/submitted information For the past 26 years, the YWCA of Van Wert County has held the Summer Food Program to ensure that no child goes hungry during the summer months. VW independent file photo While last summer’s program looked different and was run as a drive-thru meal pick-up due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the YWCA distributed nearly 15,000 meals to children. This summer’s program will be held Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the S.F. Goedde Building, 205 W. Crawford St. in Van Wert. ....
VW independent/submitted information The Van Wert Heartland Patriots will hold their March meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 551 Center St. in Van Wert. The featured speaker for the evening will be Van Wert Area Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Stacy Adam, who will provide an overview of the organization, which works with existing businesses to help them meet their needs through workforce development, financing tools, and grant programs. The VWAEDC also includes the Revolving Loan Fund, Van Wert Land Revitalization Corporation (land bank), PACE financing, the Business Advisory Council, Community Development Block Grants, and the CHIP program. ....
VW independent/submitted information At this time, the Van Wert County Health Department will not be taking names for a COVID-19 vaccination waiting list or calling to schedule appointments for first dose vaccination clinics. Health officials apologize if county residents are on the vaccination waiting list and have not been contacted, but the Health District staff has spent many hours trying to contact people to schedule vaccinations. Staff members feel they have exhausted this list and have tried to the best of their ability to contact everyone who was on the list as of last Thursday. Moving forward, health officials are planning to go to an open clinic for first dose vaccinations only. These clinics will be announced on social media, media outlets, and on the Health District phone system. ....
Submitted information COLUMBUS Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost issued Ohio’s Law on Concealed Handguns annual report on Monday showing that 169,232 concealed carry licenses were issued in Ohio in 2020. Dave Yost According to the statistics reported to the Attorney General’s Office, county sheriffs issued 98,892 new licenses and 72,340 renewals. Permit holders who wish to renew their licenses must do so every five years. Under Ohio law, county sheriffs are responsible for issuing concealed-carry licenses and renewing them, as well as suspending and revoking licenses. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office compiles this annual report, as required by law, about the number of licenses issued each year. ....
