British finance firms scatter across European capitals

London | No single European city will snatch London’s mantle as a global financial centre, but the mini-exodus of financial services from Britain could see different cities on the Continent become specialised hubs as Brexit reshapes the landscape.
“There’s a very clear sector specialisation emerging in Europe that will be interesting to track,” said William Wright, founder and managing director of the London think tank New Financial.

In a preliminary analysis that Mr Wright presented to the Washington-based Petersen Institute for International Economics (PIIE), he said that of 413 London-based financial services firms which moved operations to the EU last year, 128 went to Dublin, 88 to Paris, 84 to Luxembourg, 56 to Frankfurt, 47 to Amsterdam and 1 ....
