Decorah medical center gets new chief medical officer December 30, 2020 12:46 PM Site staff DECORAH, Iowa (WKBT) Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System leaders announced Wednesday that Dr. Thomas Marquardt, a surgeon practicing in La Crosse, will serve as the next chief medical officer in the Decorah hospital. Marquardt has been serving in the interim chief medical officer role since September of 2019 after the previous chief medical officer, Dr. Robert Flinchbaugh, returned to his medical practice. COVID-19 vaccine delivered to Winneshiek Medical Tuesday, December 22, 2020 4:47 PM The first shipment of 400 COVID-19 vaccine doses (Moderna) was delivered to Winneshiek Medical Center (WMC) in the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 22. Vaccination of staff began immediately. Mayo Clinic Health System family medicine physicians Kevin Locke, M.D., and Andy Goodner, M.D., were among the first front line staff to be vaccinated. Front line staff include those who provide direct patient care or support direct patient. Dr. Goodner stated, I am excited that we now can start vaccinating to begin to end what has been a long, exhausting and heartbreaking pandemic.
