The Rolling Stones are back with a slice of swagger and strut

The band's new album will also be the band's first since the death of Charlie Watts, who plays on two tracks. Steve Jordan is an adroit replacement here, although Charlie's less-is-more style will be missed.

Just Bach December Concert

Share:
Please join us as Just Bach shares the timeless beauty of Bach's music. Because of the Emergency Order in Dane County, this month's musical offerings were recorded, not from the Sanctuary of our home church, Luther Memorial, but from individual players' homes, and from the lovely Sanctuary of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, in Waukesha. Just Bach Co-Founder Sarah Brailey provides the opening remarks, with an overview of our December concert program. Sarah then joins Mark Brampton Smith in four short chorale preludes on Advent melodies, from the Orgelbüchlein (Little Organ Book); Mark plays the organ part as written, while Sarah sings the melodies on which the preludes are based. Next we have violinist Nathan Giglierano playing the Largo from the third solo violin sonata, and then, joined by his wife, violist Gillian Giglierano, two short selections arranged for violin/viola duet. In addition to being a fabulous violinist, Nathan is an accomplished luthier; the baroque violin and modern violin and viola used in these recordings were all made by him. The second half of the program features selections from the Christmas Oratorio. Sonata à Quattro gives us the gorgeous Sinfonia which opens Cantata 2 of this work. SAQ serves as Ensemble-in-Residence at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha, where they recorded this movement. Sarah returns and closes the program with three chorales from the Christmas Oratorio, courtesy of some technological wizardry: she multi-track recorded herself singing all four parts, and in one case also played the continuo line on the cello! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PR51KLtr2Tc We encourage viewers to sing along, by following the chorale sheet music on the screen. There will be a live Zoom reception with the artists, on Wednesday 12/16/20 at 7:30 pm. Please join us! Visit our website for the link: https://justbach.org/concerts/ We need this soul-centering music now more than ever; we invite the music community to join us Wednesday, Dec. 16, for a wonderful program of J.S. Bach.
