Message to the Community From Library Director Brenda McKinley: Serving Visitors in Contactless Way

Written by HH
To help our community get through this pandemic together and with concern for your safety, our staff continues to add ways we can serve you either from home or in a contactless way.

We strongly encourage patrons to utilize the Contactless Lobby Pickup service for requested materials. To schedule Lobby Pickup appointments, follow the link in the “Hold Ready” email you receive when your materials are ready for pickup. Please let our Circulation Team know if you need assistance. You can reach Circulation, Monday-Friday 10am-5pm or Saturday 10am-1pm at 203-438-2282 ext.12003.

Need help picking out materials? The Library recently added Personalized Book Bundles! Fill in our Personal Book Bundles Form on the Library website with the types of materials you or your children are looking for and our librarians will curate a selection just for you. Provide your Library card number and we will check the materials out for you to pick up in the Main Level Lobby. We will contact you once your order is ready.

We are extremely excited to announce that Zion Elementary...
We are extremely excited to announce that Zion Elementary School District 6 with the help of the Illinois State Board of Education and the Lake County Health Department, will be implementing rapid testing (BinaxNOW) within our schools starting January 2021. Rapid testing will help facilitate the continuation of in-person learning throughout our entire District.
In August of this year, we asked our families in what format they wanted their students to return to school, and we listened. From the first day, we began planning for the 2020-2021 school year we made it a top priority to give our families the option to pick the format in which they wanted their student(s) to attend school. Implementing BinaxNOW in our buildings provides us an incredible opportunity that will allow us to continue offering our families a choice regarding how they want their children to learn; whether that is in-person (“Bricks”), or virtually (“Clicks”). The health and safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority, and though the number of positive COVID-19 cases within our district remain low, we are thrilled to add another layer to our multi-tiered health and safety plan.
