If the humane society is the organization with the most unique donors by July 25, it will be eligible for an additional $5,000 prize.
Donations can help more than 700 nonprofit organizations qualify for grants up to $100,000 to improve their community-building programs.
Graces Place Ministries, Inc. and Fresh Start for Children and Families, of Fort Walton beach, are among 700 nonprofits vying for Gannett grants.
The nonprofit organizations have one month to raise money through the online platform Mightycause to reach a minimum of $3,000 or $6,000 to qualify.
