UNODC delivered a specialized train-the-trainer course on international cooperation in cases involving electronic evidence for trainers of the Judiciary, Maldives Police Service and Prosecutor General’s Office.
A regional consultation workshop was hosted in Khulna, to identify existing gaps, challenges, and future interventions in strengthening community and beat policing mechanisms. Supported by Global Affairs Canada, the regional consultation brought together 80 participants from law enforcement agencies and the media.
Officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka gathered in New Delhi for the in-person Steering Committee Meeting of the UNODC Regional Programme for South Asia (2023-2027). The meeting witnessed substantive discussions aimed at bolstering regional responses to combat drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism in the South Asian region.
Two workshops were held in Rajshahi and Mymensingh for police officials, law enforcement agencies and media personnel to identify gaps, challenges, and future interventions in strengthening community and beat policing mechanisms to prevent violent extremism and counter-terrorism in Bangladesh.
A capacity-building workshop was delivered to 40 state officials from the Department of Prisons in Panadura, Western Province, Sri Lanka. The training provided participants with a better understanding of fundamental rights in Sri Lanka, particularly in custodial settings, and emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of victims and witnesses of crimes.
