been slated for a couple of days and their timetable has been fairly strict throughout this, but there is plenty of room for manoeuvre. they don t normally sit on a friday but i think they are expecting to speak to him. not that many people behind me today, but we have seen over the past four weeks, we have seen protesters, plenty of media, so we can expect all of that tomorrow as well, but his testimony crucially important, and he has received plenty of criticism from civil servants, advisers, scientific advisers, to name but a few, who said he showed nuclear levels of confidence in dealing with the crisis and he will certainly want to face some of that criticism down. but interesting, yesterday, we had from michael gove, the chancellor of the duchy of is that, that brilliant name in british politics, which basically means he was in charge of the cabinet office, and he was pretty defensive of matt hancock, who he said showed wisdom and foresight in many of the decision ....

They re seeing inside. so three things are happening. of course, the students have been trained. we have children that have been trained to run or hide in that order, right? you try to run. it s a big facility, so my guess is they probably had a lockdown system, so what you re seeing now is the second piece, which is called immediate action rapid de deployment. this was learned after columbine. in columbine, the students were held. that was not the thing to do. you saw that happen second, and then the third that is happening, because every parent that has a kid there is freaking out right now. you have family reunification, you have family communication. get the parents with their kids and get them away from that facility. so that s why it looks quite active with the pictures we re seeing, even though we don t know what happened inside, and we have this, unfortunately, down w with a lot of practice ....

From ever occurring. that s what this bill does is this attempts to actually stop these shooting events before they occur by identifying those who have a propensity to become active shooters, notifying law enforcement who they are, and then they can respond. now, as you mentioned, harris, in parkland, we knew who this individual was. harris: right. there were so many personnel breakdowns, and i say personnel breakdowns because, look, we even had armed security at douglas high. yet, they failed to respond in the proper manner. and so, you know, what could have helped in my bill, i think potentially if we had done a subset study crime prevention design and automatic lockdown system, i know an administrator or teacher, i m not sure which, actually saw nikolas cruz ....

This wasn t a suicide mission. he obviously wanted to live. and that s an interesting point. i want to ask you, chris, about that, because often in these shootings, they are really suicide murders, right, because often times it appears the plan of the shooter is to die by cop. you ll hear sometimes here s a case he tried to get away. and he s captured alive. how unusual is that with shootings like this? well, i mean, we ve had 25 school shootings since columbine. and most of those instances shooter ended up dead either by the hands of the police or their own hand. so the best that a school can do is take certain measures. there are certain things you have to have. you have to have a triage system, early warning system, a team that assesses threats and acts on them if there is a threat out there. every school should have a lockdown system and drill it well and they should have magnetic locks on exterior doors so there is an instant lockdown ....

What have you learned since the violence at roseburg, grob? the challenge is what type of information is available. the reality is what kinds of sources are they using as far as social media? what are they thinking? that s not just the only thing. they have to have a way to talk with law enforcement, police officers. one thing that became so apparent was the ability of the shooter to walk from one building to another and the question is could you have a one-button lockdown system so you could basically freeze out those who wanted to do harm and seek safety. ....
