The sparkling new hanger-museum at Atchison’s Amelia Earhart Memorial Airport does more than just pay tribute to its namesake’s life and career.
The Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum is scheduled to open on Friday in her hometown of Atchison, about an hour's drive north of Kansas City.

The centerpiece of the museum is the world’s last remaining Lockheed Electra 10-E aircraft — Muriel — the same model Earhart flew on her final flight.
